Tanzania Automotive Technology Centre (TATC), synonymously known as “Shirika la
Nyumbu”, was formally established on 14th December 1985, through a Presidential Order, made under the Public Corporations Act 1969, as repealed and replaced by the Public
Corporations Act 1992 and amended under the Public Corporations (Amendment) Act
1993. TATC mission is to develop a reputable capacity for automotive engineering by conducting research and innovation, technology transfer and quality assurance services. TATC is wholly owned by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Treasury Registrar, with the Ministry of Defense and National Service (MoDNS) as custodian on behalf of the government.
1.1 CHIEF COMPUTER SERVICES ENGINEER - 1 POST 1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintains state of the art hardware and software ensure database is secure and retrievable by authorized users and implement governing policies.
• Facilitates procurement, maintenance and distribution of computers, hardware, peripherals and computer consumables.
• Implements upgrading of equipment and personnel to cope with the technological changes develop and advice means of disposing obsolete equipment
• Directs implementation and maintenance of computer software programs and applications that are encrypted so as to provide secure data in the system server.
• Directs implementation of the website including information and products that should be advertised on the web.
• Directs and devises means of implementing knowledge base obtained from employees working in different engineering fields and how to code it so as to establish artificial intelligence.
• Facilitates administration of the e-mail, intranets, extranet and internet facilities by ensuring reliable communications and networking.
• Trains computer users on efficient use of computers and application software.
1.1.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Master Degree either in Computer Studies or Information Technology obtained from a well recognized higher learning institution plus
• At least eight (8) years working experience in the field of information and communication technology.
1.1.1 REMUNERATION

1.2 SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER III- 1 POST
1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drafts internal circulars, letters and internal memorandum for official use.
• Keeps record of employees’ attendance register
• Preparer’s seniority lists for the purpose of promotions.
• Deals with disciplinary matters to junior staff.
• Assists in salary administration, remuneration scheme and management of pension and terminal benefits
• Assists in the preparation of staff records regarding, staff leave and staff welfare.
Keeps an updates Registers for staff position, dispositions, engagements, confirmations and promotions,
• Assists in management of the Pension scheme
• Participates on assessing training needs of personnel, Collects, keeps and updates personnel data and information.
1.2.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Industrial Relations or its equivalent from a recognized Institution
• At least three (3) years working experience in administration.
• Computer Skills are essential.

1.3 DESIGN ENGINEER I – 1 POST
1.3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To work as trainee engineer under the supervision of a registered engineer with the
Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a “Professional Engineer” in order to
acquire the experience required for registration with ERB on the following:
Designs machinery components of mechanical electrical or electronics engineering systems.
• Conduct design modifications and innovation or reverse engineering of mechanical electrical or electronics systems.
• Applies Computer Aided Design in the development and simulation of engineering systems.
• Conducts failure analysis of mechanical, electrical or electronics engineering components.
• Evolves cost of design projects
1.3.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor of Science either in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a recognized institution of higher learning.
• At least three (3) years working experience.
• Computer skills are essential
1.1.3 REMUNERATION

1.4 PRODUCTION ENGINEER I -1 POST
1.4.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To work as trainee engineer under the supervision of a registered Prototype Workshop Engineers with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a “Professional Engineer” in order to acquire the experience required for registration with ERB on the following:-
• Reviews design packages of machinery, components of engineering systems submitted for production.
• Reviews tools requirements for the production process.
• Undertakes safety measures of production personnel, machine tools, material handling equipment, and other facilities.
• Prepares weekly machine loading and ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Assigns production foremen specific workloads and conducts regular work progress review to determine the in-process production controls.
• Prepares and processes request for design changes and ensure their implementation.
• Monitors and control work in-progress, and ensure proper use of machinery, equipment and tools.
• Ensures that all production shop personnel observe industrial safety rules.
• Ensures that materials, parts and tools are available for production and liaise with the supplies office for any deficiency.
• Prepares production process control programmes and work schedules and ensures their applicability.
• Receives work order/job cards from the Marketing department and control job movement in the production shops.
• Maintains good workmanship standards in the shops and ascertain quality of products to meet the required standards.
1.4.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor of Science either in Mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering from a recognized institution.
• At least three (3) years working experience in relevant post.
• Computer skills are essential
1.1.4 REMUNERATION

1.5 SUPPLIES TECHNICIAN III - 1 POST
1.5.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Checks transactions in stores accounting documents and registers.
Receives and issues vouchers, delivery notes and invoices.
Prepares purchase requisitions/orders upon approval by his/her supervisor.
Performs any other duties assigned by the superior.
1.5.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Diploma in Materials Management or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
• At least three (3) years work experience in a reputable organization.
• Computer skills is an added advantage
1.1.5 REMUNERATION

1.6 ELECTRICIAN III – 1 POST
1.6.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintains and repairs of machine controllers.
• Facilitates preventive maintenance of complex machine control systems.
• Installs electric looms for complex vehicle control systems such as fire crash tenders, and other special purpose vehicles.
• Instructs lower grade electrical artisans.
• Performs any duty assigned by the superior.
1.6.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Form four certificate with Trade Test grade I in electrical.
• At least three (3) years working experience as an electrician in a reputable organization.

1.7 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY III – 2 POSTS
1.7.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Type letters, minutes, circulars and all documents required for the day to day running of the Centre’s affairs.
• Receives telephone calls and book outgoing telephones as required.
• Handles incoming mails with personal attention of the officer and ensures that mails and any related correspondences are well managed and delivered personally to the intended officer.
• Follows up outstanding correspondences.
• Receives visitors, ascertains the nature of their business and relays information to the boss concerned.
• Replies to routine correspondences such as acknowledgements.
1.7.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE)/ Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with passes in English and Kiswahili plus
• Technician Certificate in Secretarial Studies from a recognized Institution preferably Tanzania Public Service College with typing speed of 50 w.p.m; manuscript and tabulation stage III, secretarial duties and office practice stage II, English or Kiswahili shorthand speed of 100 w.p.m. with three (3) years of relevant working experience in a reputable organization OR,
• Diploma in Secretarial Studies from a recognized Institution with a typing speed of 60 w.p.m; manuscript and tabulation stage III, secretarial duties and office practice stage II, English or Kiswahili shorthand speed of 100 w.p.m.
• Computer certificate in Microsoft Office Windows Platform is essential.
1.7.3 REMUNERATION

1.8 FITTER MECHANICS III – 1 POST
1.8.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Detects fault and rectifies plants and equipment.
• Assembles and disassembles mechanical systems.
Drills, taps and hands reaming new holes during assembly of mechanical parts.
Re-threads or re-taps bolts and nut.
Identifies worn out parts by proper use of measuring instruments.
Scraps, laps and fits shell bearings and bushes in specified fields.
1.8.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Form Four (IV) Certificate and Trade Test Grade I, in Fitter Mechanics.
At least three (3) years working experience as Fitter Mechanics in a reputable
organization.

1.9 PRINCIPAL METROLOGY TECHNICIAN – (1 POST) RE-ADVERTISED
1.9.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participates in job/project planning,
• Gives recommendations on improvement of working conditions,
• Prepares and conducts Inter-laboratory Proficiency Testing schemes (IPTs) and PT sample preparation,
• Approves laboratory report for external customers and consultancy services,
• Prepares and maintains of the Laboratory environment to meet certification and Accreditation Criteria,
• Generates inspection reports on all measured items and submits to the laboratory Engineer for approval and

At least fifteen (15) years working experience in reputable laboratory.

• Assists Engineers and Technicians in their projects to obtain cost effective machining method,
• Assists the Foreman in estimating man-hours for costing purposes,
• Establishes critical paths from flow charts as a basis of establishing work completion dates,
