The Organization ActionAid Tanzania started its operation in 1998. Its mission in Tanzania is to reduce poverty by empowering the poor, excluded and their organizations, to effectively claim their rights. ActionAid Tanzania (AATZ) is looking for the qualified, experienced and self -motivated persons to fill in the following position
The Position: ActionAid International and the National Board of ActionAid Tanzania is looking for a committed and inspirational leader to lead our work with poor and excluded people and communities to advance their rights, entitlements, and access to social justice in Tanzania. ActionAid International works in partnership with governments, Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs), Community Based Organisations (CBOs), across the world, with Country Programmes aimed at fighting poverty, injustice and exclusion as well as supporting poor and excluded people in the struggle to demand and claim their rights.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record in leading and managing institutions and development programs and have experience of either being part of social movements or being an active member of the civil society. S/He will adopt empowering management practices to expand and deepen our partnerships, programmes and accountability in Tanzania.
Actively committed to gender equity, our Country Director will be value driven and a team player possessing high level of people related skills as well as strong financial management and control skills. S/He will have the perspectives and competencies for rights-based and policy advocacy work; fundraising and donor relations; regional and international linkages and a sound basis of organizational development. Courage of conviction in taking public stands against issues of injustice and an experience of dealing with governance issues would be an asset. This is a senior position based in Dar es Salaam with frequent travel to the field and internationally. The candidate must have excellent communication skills in English and Kiswahili languages.
Qualification & Experience The graduate will have a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Development studies or management from a recognized institution. Master’s Degree in any relevant social Sciences Discipline would be an added advantage. Training and hands on experience in Project planning and management, proposal writing, Human Rights Based Approach, Participatory approaches and methodologies, Governance, Civic empowerment and accountability, Monitoring and evaluation. Knowledge of Strategic planning and management ,Poverty and Women Rights Analysis, Human Rights Based Approach to Development, Donor contract management and reporting, Staff and partner capacity development, Communication and public relations, Resource Mobilization and Monitoring, Networking and collaboration, Corporate Governance, Program reviews, monitoring and evaluation.
•Coordinate strategic planning, program development/proposal writing, review and evaluation processes in line with AATZ strategy •Guide program operational planning, implementation and monitoring processes in line with AATZ strategy •Enforce adherence to program-specific procedures for requisition and reporting expenditures in accordance with AAI Financial Management Framework and International Financial Reporting System •Provide quality assurance to program related communication to both internal and external stakeholders of AATZ •Supervise, motivate, appraise staff in the Directorate and build the capacity of program and non-program staff in line with the organizational strategy and policies •Participate in the recruitment processes in line with organisation requirements and contribute to the development and execution of a plan for acquiring and developing key talent •Coordinate and account for resource mobilization in the directorate in line with the AATZ fundraising strategy •Provide leadership in Networking and building strategic alliances in line with organizational strategies and policies •Contribute to strategic decision making through SMT and support to the board •Provide leadership in partner identification, appraisal and capacity building processes •Identify program-related knowledge needs for AATZ and its partners, coordinate the generation, storage and access to knowledge in line with the AATZ Strategy
