Background:
The Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration (GVTC) is a mechanism for strategic, transboundary, collaborative management of the Greater Virunga landscape also referred to as the Central Albertine Rift. In the framework of implementing the 10-year Transboundary Strategic Plan (TSP) of the landscape, the three protected areas authorities (PAAs) i.e. Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN), Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), with the support of IGCP secured a four-year funding from the Netherlands government to support Transboundary Collaboration and Conservation Revenue Sharing Processes in the Virunga – Bwindi Ecosystem towards the end of 2007. Other funds were received from the CARE and International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP) partnership under the Enterprise Environment and Equity in the Virunga Landscape of the Great Lakes region (EEEGL) programme from the Buffet Foundation to specifically support the transboundary collaboration activities across the GVTC. Later on additional funding was obtained from the United States State Department and WWF Sweden to assist in the development and implementation of a communication strategy.
Some of the funding is coming to a close. It is necessary that before moving to the next phase, an assessment of the lessons learnt is done. GVTC is therefore looking for a consultant/consulting firm to document lessons learned from implementation of activities since the development and approval of the TSP. He/she will also formulate recommendations on how to incorporate lessons learned and replicate good practices on the future project planning and implementation.
Details of this consultancy are available in the Terms of Reference at GVTC website: www.greatervirunga.org or at GVTC headquarters located at Aurore Building opposite to Umubano Hotel. The Application deadline is Wednesday 8th February 2012 at 4 pm. Queries should be forwarded using apply button below, tel: +250 788300912 and +250 253580429.Samuel John MWANDHA
