WORK CONTEXT
Cesvi opened a coordination office in Nairobi to supervise the projects in the country and to support the staff in Somalia at an institutional level.
In Kenya Cesvi is working in a development project founded by the EU focused on Child Protection. The area of involvement concerns the abolishment of every form of violence towards minors in the National Justice System in 6 counties across Kenya.
In Somalia, in the regions of Hiraan, Galmudug, Gedo and Banadir, Cesvi is involved in the mother-child health emergency with activities that ensure adequate access to primary care, the fight against child malnutrition and vaccine campaigns for rural and urban populations. Health actions are integrated with programs aimed at increasing self-support for families and the resilience to shocks caused by natural or man-made disasters. In the capital city, Mogadishu, Cesvi is working on water sanitation, emergency waste disposal and child health and protection.
JOB DESCRIPTION
In coordination with the Country Director the Regional Administrator and the Area Coordinators the LM will be responsible to design a suitable and reliable Logistic System to be implemented in all Cesvi bases and decentralized offices in Somalia and Kenya, accordingly to Cesvi Procedure and Logistic Manuals;
• Training capacity building and appraisal of the Base Logisticians as well as NBO Logistician Officer;
• Supervise the put in action of the system, assess its performance and make adjustments, if needed
In designing the logistic system the LM will adhere to Cesvi and the Donor’s ethical and security rules, mandate and mission.
The system is expected to cover the followings:
- Office Management;
- Procurement and Stock Management;
- Vehicle management and maintenance;
- Distribution of goods in emergency context;
- Support to field activities.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Bachelor’s degree in Humanitarian Logistics, Business, Supply Chain Management Engineering or a related field. Certifications in more than one discipline highly regarded
Strong experience in the related field (minimum 3 years)
Experience in NGO, preferably in emergency context in East Africa
English proficiency (oral and written)
Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
Ability to work under high pressure with a great level of personal organization
DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES
Team player
Comfortable and flexible in human relations
Previous experience in Somalia, will be considered a plus
Knowledge of Somalian, will be considered a plus
