Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the Regional Office for Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA), in Cairo, Egypt. The incumbent will work under the overall guidance of the UNODC Regional Representative for the Middle East and North Africa and the direct supervision of the Regional Programme Coordinator, both based in Cairo, Egypt. In undertaking his/her tasks, the incumbent will work as a member of the Programme Coordination and Analysis Unit (PCAU), and be responsible for supporting the implementation of three projects as outlined below.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, social sciences or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in crime prevention and criminal justice including providing service to vulnerable groups, specifically in juvenile justice and gender justice, is required. Experience in technical cooperation, project management and implementation is required. Relevant work experience in field environment is highly desirable. Work experience with the United Nations or similar international organisation is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English, French and Arabic, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
