Background
TGNP Mtandao has been in existence since 1993, during which time it has built itself into a leading member of the women feminist movement for social gender transformation and women empowerment within Tanzanian, Africa and beyond. Its overall goal is to contribute to increased gender responsiveness of policy formulation and implementation of various policies. The approach of the organisation is enhancing strategic linkages, networking and coalition building among like-minded civil society organizations, grassroots groups and key networks and coalitions. Over the years, TGNP has made a substantial contribution towards developing a critical mass of organized civil society with the capacity to critically analyze and stimulate public debate, and to carry out activism and collective action on pertinent social, cultural, political and economic development issues.
TGNP Mtandao is looking for a competent person to fill the position of Programme Manager, Activism and Movement Building.
Job Requirements
The Programme Manager will be required to provide conceptual and methodological leadership, based on gender/feminism and animation approaches, during all stages of the programme design, planning, implementation and monitoring, as well as in human resource management, resource mobilisation, financial accountability and administration. The incumbent will also play a key role in the implementation of activism, advocacy and movement strategies building through various campaigns. Key responsibilities include inter alia:
i) Manage, co-ordinate and facilitate the overall planning and budgeting of the programme and oversee implementation of programme activities for building a women/feminist social movement to enhance gender activism and social transformation in Tanzania and beyond.
ii) Coordinate advocacy, networking, coalition building and strategic partnership and alliance building activities.
iii) Coordinate the production of quality programme documents on relevant social and policy issues in a variety of forms such as research reports, position papers and other forms including monitoring of programme activities
iv) Coordinate the development and implementation of fundraising strategies and activities to ensure the financial sustainability of the Programme activities, in consultation with Executive Director.
Key qualifications and experience
The candidate is expected to have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
• Minimum of a Masters Degree in social sciences or equivalent with major in policy analysis and research plus gender analysis & mainstreaming (specialized training in feminist and gender studies is an added advantage).
• Knowledgeable in the field of gender and development, policy formation and analysis, lobbying and advocacy, coalition building and social movements, participatory methodology in training and organizing and institutional management.
• Demonstrated skills in strategic planning, programming, fund raising, leadership, coordination and management.
• Committed activist for social justice with at least three years experience in a management position, preferably in a reputable institution/organization oriented to human rights issues and/research and development.

• Social Gender analysis of society at all levels, linked to macro and micro policy and structures & report-writing
• Animation, participatory facilitation and public-speaking
• Participatory project management and administration
• Coaching/mentoring
• Financial literacy to budgeting and expenditure monitoring level
