Job Description:
OGE is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial professional to lead the Distribution (AS) department of our company’s next regional business unit. Working with the Regional Manager (RM), the Distribution Manager will drive the development of the inventory and distribution systems in their region. OGE provides Distribution Coordinators with initial training in Arusha and logistical support during the initial stages of expansion. The Distribution Coordinator is expected to use his/her own experience and creativity to build an Distribution team in line with OGE culture and values. This role offers a tremendous opportunity to experiment and innovate within the confines of a fast-growing start-up organization.
Primary Work Responsibilities:
Leads distribution operations, including receiving, warehousing, and transporting systems from Arusha headquarters as well as to service points and customers.
Oversees service point site selection, setup, and painting; manages relationships with service point owners.
Manages inventory and ensures inventory levels are controlled by conducting physical counts and reconciling with data storage system.
Achieves financial objectives by contributing to regional quarterly budget planning; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
Refines and implements transportation strategy; supports logistics officers in improvement of transportation methods and negotiation of transport contracts.
Complies with national warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
Coordinates day-to-day distribution operations by scheduling and assigning employees to prioritized tasks; ensures logistics employees have required resources to complete their assigned tasks; and follows up on work results to ensure quality and timeliness.
Collaborates and communicates with regional customer care, agent care and agent success team members to ensure timely delivery of repair parts and systems.
Provides leadership to logistics officers and warehouse staff; supports growth of distribution team by helping to recruit, select, and train employees; provides feedback to facilitate professional growth of logistics officers and warehouse staff.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Required Skills & Experiences:
4 years work experience
2+ years of experience working in procurement, logistics, inventory and/or accounting
1+ years of direct supervisory experience in a relevant field
Excellent attention to details
Excellent computer skills
Experience negotiating contracts with distributors helpful
Bachelors degree in a relevant field with a record of strong academic performance
Demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship, including the ability to flourish in dynamic, ambiguous environments and to drive work independently
Experience working in a high-pressure work setting
Desire to coach and mentor others
Willingness to work a variety of hours as business demands, including late nights, weekends, and holidays
Highly Desired Skills & Experiences:
Bilingual English and Swahili
Education and/or work experience in renewable energy or energy access programs
Ambition to grow professionally and contribute to the development of the company
