Program Manager Reports to the Regional Director, Ethiopia
Major Responsibilities
• Project management role in the implementation of the workplan and deliverables for Synergos to support Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) in efforts to enhance capacity building.
• To assist the ATA in its’ goal to promote agricultural sector transformation in Ethiopia
• To support the ATA in its’ effort to build the capacity of external organizations in Ethiopia’s agricultural system

Key Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Regional Director and serve as interface between the Synergos Ethiopia office and the MoA.
• Develop, coordinate and manage the program’s overall work plan and schedule of activities
• Lead and coordinate design efforts for workshops pertaining to project. • Facilitate workshops and conferences
• Facilitate the effective assessment and evaluation of the program, serving as a connection point between the external evaluator, MoA Directors, participants, and others
• To assist in the engagement with stakeholders and help develop a strategy of managing multi-stakeholder partnerships with this project
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key Ethiopian government, business, civil society and community stakeholders
• Develop and maintain strong systems to facilitate smooth and effective internal communication between project stakeholders
• Oversee the development of strong systems for documentation and external communication
• Report on project progress, milestones, budget and expenditures regularly
• Oversee project management office operations
• Ensure that project logistical considerations (travel plans, meeting space, etc.) are handled appropriately by Project Staff and external consultants
• Serve as a facilitator in group processes involving project participants and/or other stakeholders
• Contribute to the development of a values based culture at Synergos providing leadership around organizational values

Qualifications
• Master’s degree or equivalent preferred
• Experience in organizational development
• Experience with collaborative and participatory approaches to social and economic development work
• Ability to facilitate workshops and conferences
• At least 8 years working experience that includes work across sectors, in a leadership position
• Demonstrated skill in project management, facilitation and group dynamics.
• Ability to operate effectively within the Ethiopian society and to engage with a broad range of stakeholders including business, government, civil society and communities
• Understanding of Ethiopia’s agricultural system, with a broad perspective on how the entire system operates and how public, private and informal actors operate within the system
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, start-up environment, with an emphasis on high-performance, teamwork, accountability and results
• Experience working across cultures, collaborating with others and able to develop and sustain relationships
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Capacity to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects, set priorities for a challenging workload and adhere to deadlines
• Energetic, adaptive, flexible and patient
• Superior judgment and intuition about how and when to consult with others and when to lead by stepping forward or to lead by standing down
• Ability to balance diverse interests, working with corporate, government or community representatives

• Fluency in Amharic and working knowledge of English are essential. Knowledge of additional Ethiopian language is desired
