Research Coordinator -1 position based in Kamuli
Reporting to the Programme Unit Manager, the incumbent will provide leadership in the coordination and overall delivery of University of Oxford-Plan Uganda research titled; ‘Menstruation and the Cycle of Poverty’ She/he will lead the project team in planning, implementation, partnership management and reporting of the project. She/he is responsible for the timely delivery of the project; and with highest technical quality according to the objectives and approach in the project document and to the satisfaction of project stakeholders.
Specific Responsibilities
- Develop quarterly and monthly implementation plans and budgets.
- Coordinate development, implementation, and maintenance of school/ community research studies; recruits subjects; conducts follow-up surveys; on going data collection
- In collaboration with Plan Research team, serves as liaison between the participating schools, local and state government agencies, and University of Oxford
- Collects, enters, analyzes, and presents data as may be required.
- Coordinate meetings among participating community and, schools, the advisory team and other Plan staff.
- Assist with various administrative tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of the research project.
- Assign and review research-related work and tasks given to research assistants Represent Plan Uganda and the project externally with partners, government and other agencies.
- Prepare and share quality project reports as per donor requirements and the project monitoring & evaluation plan.
- Ensure all project documentation is filed and organised for accountability purposes.
- Ensure project learning’s and achievements are documented and disseminated widely both internally and externally.
- Manage project resources efficiently and effectively in accordance with Plan Uganda policies and guidelines.
- Ensure adequate stakeholder consultation and participation at all stages of the project implementation.

Requirement:
- Bachelor degree (preferred) in Social work, Education,
- Post graduate training related to research will be of added advantage
- Willingness to undertake travel in Uganda (at least 25% time on average per month)
- Good quantitative and qualitative research skills with knowledge of principles of research design.
- Attentiveness to detail with high level of professionalism in conduct and ability to maintain confidentiality and other research ethical standards.
- Ability to operate personal computer and various software_packages Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical and communication (verbal and written) skills, appropriate to the audience- specifically, knowledge of local Lusoga language is an added advantage.
- Ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, adolescent girls and community members.
