Programme Grant Officer (Nairobi)
Salary: £ 28,500 - £ 32,000 depending on experience
Based in Nairobi with significant international travel
As
a leading member of the international World Vision partnership, World
Vision UK’s goal is to inspire the UK to take action that transforms the
lives of the world’s poorest children. By 2015, we aim to have
contributed to the improved and sustained well-being of 8 million
children around the world with the help of 500,000 supporters in the UK.
Our Christian foundation and focus on children, combined with global
reach and grassroots presence, give us a distinct identity among
development agencies in the UK.
Central
to our strategy is increasing our grant income from governments and
multilaterals, projected to reach £30 million by 2015. Complementing the
strength of the existing International Programmes Team, the Programme
Grant Officers are integral to achieving this growth by working with
World Vision national partners to strengthen donor relationships along
with grant acquisition and project management capacity.
The post is based in Nairobi with frequent travel but will require an initial period of 4-6 months in the UK office.
To be successful in the role you will:
- Have first hand knowledge and experience of fundraising from institutional donors, including DFID and the EC
- Have strong interpersonal skills to work cross-organisationally and in different cultures in a professional and Christian environment
- Be proactive and tenacious in pursuing new funding opportunities within the context of WV partner’s strategies and plans
- Be able to train and mentor local staff in developing and implementing strategies for donor engagement and grant acquisition
