The Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets) Group regulates the gas and electricity industries in Britain. Our role is to protect consumers and enable them to secure value for money and benefit from reliable supplies. Ofgem has now restructured to meet its duties and obligations for both today’s and also tomorrow’s consumer. E-Serve is responsible for Ofgem’s delivery functions, while Ofgem maintains its regulatory and policy roles.
Now is an exciting time to join us at Ofgem. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Manager, Wholesale Europe and an Economist/Analyst based in London SW1.
In these posts, you will play a key role in the chosen area, delivering effective strategies that ensure Ofgem remains at the forefront of all they do.
Senior Manager, Wholesale Europe -£43,600 - £56,650 p.a. (dependent on skills and expertise)

This role plays a key part in Ofgem’s duty to ensure the wholesale energy markets remain competitive, efficient and delivers secure supplies. This carries significant responsibility for ensuring the market arrangements deliver these aims through reviewing market rules, developing policy on key aspects of the regulatory regime, regulate the System Operators to ensure efficiency, assessing modifications to licences and liaising with industry and government.
In addition, it will include an important management function, both in terms of direct line management, and more general coaching/mentoring of junior staff in the team.
Economist /Analyst- £31,500 - £38,600 p.a. (dependent on skills and expertise)

You will be the lead analyst on Ofgem’s competition research. This will require performing merger assessments and profitability analysis as part of competition appraisals in both the retail and wholesale energy markets. You will also be required to regularly interpret company financial information and produce reports for internal and external stakeholders, as well as understand and apply insights from behavioural economics to energy markets. There will also be an opportunity to contribute towards other research projects.
