ROLE, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Regional Director WSA, by proxy and directions received from the Secretary General, is the Organisation’s representative with regard to the various interlocutors in the geographic area of competence. Specifically he/she is responsible to:
• Represents Intersos. He/she is responsible for the management, strategic programming, implementation of activities and achievement of objectives for the geographic area of competence. • To be responsible for the identification and elaboration of new interventions. • Coordinate, supervise and evaluate the development of activities in the various locations and the projects under way in the geographic area of competence. • Supervise the human resources management for the area of competence. • Provide Head Office regularly with photographic and filmed materials on activities carried out in the area of competence and every other useful documentation for external communications.
The Regional Director is given the collaboration of the Heads of Mission in order to fully execute his/her functions. With prior notice to the Secretary General, he/she may delegate them to carry out certain duties within the region, where necessary and for specific periods of time. The aforesaid proxy must be given in writing and specify the delegated duties and implementation procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• At least 10 year of working experience in post emergency and early recovery programs in developing countries. • Proven experience in managing multi-sector projects in a multicultural context. • Ability to effectively manage a variety of internal and external relationships, including relationships with donors. • Strong analytical, oral and written communication, and team-building skills. • Experience of staff management and leading a multi-national team under difficult circumstances. • Ability to work under pressure, with minimal supervision and to respect deadlines; • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and French is required. Italian will be considered a plus. • Good knowledge of international donors procedures (particularly UNHCR and ECHO) and security management. • Demonstrated competences in finance management and budget analysis. • High level of expertise in representation and negotiation with governments, donors and local authorities. • Strong understanding of the humanitarian emergency operating context, including Sphere, the humanitarian system, civil military liaison and program management. • Ability to prepare concept papers, report and project proposals in accordance with the standards required by INTERSOS and Donors.
