Senior Programme Officer (Capacity Development)

The Senior Programme Officer for Capacity Development is a key position contributing to core Commonwealth Foundation outcomes. The position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the implementation of a new strategic plan. You are directly responsible for designing, managing and supporting the implementation of new activities that will make significant contribution to building the capacity of key regional civil society organisations (CSOs) networks/alliances across the Commonwealth. You will provide technical expertise to identify their needs, design and deliver customised capacity development support and to monitor key activities. You will also be involved and make significant contribution to supporting the development of regional CSO agendas. The position offers you the opportunity to share experience and best practice across various regions.

You will also be an excellent communicator and team player able to work in a multicultural environment. You will have a postgraduate education in a relevant area with a good understanding of civil society organisations, participatory governance and capacity development frameworks and methodology, strong programme management skills and extensive experience in the design and delivery of capacity development interventions for civil society organisations (CSOs). You will have worked with an international development organisation with field experience as an asset and have the ability to manage complex projects that cover multiple countries and regions. Knowledge and understanding of working in a developing country and of international development issues, trends and approaches is very important, as is willingness to travel on short term field assignments
