Job purpose
The development of a joint web services team between the College of Life Sciences and the College of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing, along with an increased demand for high quality web services requires a new Web Developer to work alongside existing staff. This post offers an exciting opportunity to work and learn in a world leading institution by supporting the web services team to create and deploy new websites to meet the needs of the Colleges and associated services. Our College sites and other associated web based systems are vital to our highly successful and productive working environment, so you'll be involved in developing existing systems and developing new ones to further enhance our service delivery.
The post holder will work under the direction of the Web Services Manager and closely with key staff in the two Colleges in improving the effectiveness of the current web presence as well as developing and delivering web based systems to support the Colleges' strategic objectives in education, research and administration.
Principal duties
- Work with the Web Services Manager and other senior College managers to develop and implement a web strategy for the Colleges.
- Consult with key staff in the Colleges to understand the academic and other business requirements and ensure that the web presence and web based systems provided are responsive to these needs.
- Play a leading role in completing the migration of College, School and departmental web content into the College's Content Management System - Drupal.
- Improve the design and functionality of the current web presence by developing advanced functionality.
- Design, develop, deploy and manage bespoke web based systems to meet the needs of the Colleges and its constituent schools.
- Produce detailed systems documentation.
- Produce user guides for web based systems.
- Provide web development consultancy for the College, Schools and Divisions/Institutes.
