£39,146 - £46,300 p.a. inclusive of London Allowance
The Department of the Languages and Cultures of China and Inner Asia and the Department of Linguistics seek to make a joint appointment at the Lecturer level in Tibetan and Linguistics.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in general, comparative and historical linguistics and in Tibetan language and linguistics (including pre-Classical, Classical and Modern Tibetan).
The successful candidate must be able to teach courses in Tibetan language at all levels, the cultural history of Tibet, and in comparative and historical linguistics with respect to Sino-Tibetan as well as from a general perspective, and courses in any area(s) of linguistics and Tibetan studies which complement the course offerings in the two departments above.
You will have a proven record of teaching, research and securing external research funding, a strong research profile and research agenda relating to some aspect of the linguistic study of Tibetan, and will make a significant contribution to the School’s REF submission. Formal qualifications should include a PhD in Linguistics or Tibetan Studies with a strong linguistic component.
