Building on its exceptional research strengths, the University intends to make a major investment in Civil Engineering, which is currently rated top in Scotland for research. Six new posts are available: Four Chair/Readerships and two lectureships. Applications are invited from any relevant cognate discipline, such as environmental science and management, but expertise in Geotechnics, Fluid Mechanisms, Concrete and Materials are especially welcome. Successful applicants will be expected to have exceptional research track records or potential. Appointments as early career lecturers will need to demonstrate sufficiently high quality to be returned to the 2014 REF submission, and evidence of the potential to develop future high quality research. More senior appointments will need to demonstrate respectively higher levels of 4* achievement within their field. The School places a particular emphasis on inter-disciplinary research.
