Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties
The English Programme in the School of Humanities seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer in English. We seek a researcher with existing high quality publications who shows promise of leadership in future grant applications, building external networks, and attracting postgraduate students. The successful candidate will teach on undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in English and will contribute to collaborative teaching and research initiatives within the School of Humanities.
Purpose of the Post:
- To deliver high quality teaching in English.
- To produce high quality research publications, grant applications, projects and collaborations that achieve international distinction in your specialist area.
- To contribute to the administration of the Programme and the School.
Principal duties:
- Design and delivery of a range of undergraduate modules as specified by the Dean and Programme Convener, including module documentation, lectures, seminars and tutorials.
- Teaching and supervision of postgraduate students.
- Publishing research papers and monographs.
- Leading and collaborating on research grant applications and projects.
- Administration for the Programme and the School as specified by the Dean and Programme Convener.

This is a permanent post available from 1 September 2012 and is on Grade 7, £32,901 to £35,938 pa.
