BACKGROUND Australia Awards in Africa (AAA) in an AusAID-funded initiative designed: (i) to equip Africans with the skills and knowledge necessary to influence the economic and social development outcomes of their own countries; and (ii) to build the long-term capacity of African governments to provide a range of essential services, strengthen law and justice systems, improve transparency and achieve reforms to meet their own development challenges, particularly to progress towards their Millennium Development Goals.

THE ROLE

REPORTS TO: Manager of the AAA Australian Hub DURATION: Commence ASAP to December 2013 with a possible 2 years extension

PURPOSE The Senior Project Officer is responsible for supporting the planning, delivery and monitoring and evaluation of Short Course Awards (SCA) by Australian host organisations contracted under the AusAID funded Australia Awards in Africa initiative (AAA). The Senior Project Officer will assist in preparing tendering documentation and facilitate all facets of the tendering and contracting process. The SCA will also monitor and evaluate the performance of host organisations in accordance with established monitoring and evaluation processes and indicators.

SELECTION CRITERIA 1. 3-5 years experience in review, analysis and reporting of data and reports in a client focused environment

1. Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with training providers

2. 3-5 years in project coordination or project management in a training or tertiary education environment

3. Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, project management or other related field

4. Literacy in information technology, including experience of the Microsoft Office suite of applications
