Hygiene and Sanitation Promoter (Community Mobilizer)

Caritas is currently seeking to recruit Hygiene and Sanitation Promoters (Community Mobilizers) for its projects in Eastern Equatoria State
Position
Hygiene and Sanitation Promoter (Community Mobilizer)
No. of position: Two (1 female and 1 male)

Workplace Based in Ikotos, the H & S Promoters/Community Mobilizers will be working extensively in rural communities in Ikotos County and Ogurun, Eastern Equatoria State (including overnight stay)
Starting date ASAP
Duration Until December 2012 (extension of the contract will depend on funding situation)
Specific Duties • Carry out regular follow-up and monitoring visits in rural communities to mobilize the population for planned activities under the Caritas Rock Catchment Project;
• Carry out and/or give support to H&S training (PHAST/CHAST) for the Village Hygiene Promoters;
• Carry out H&S promotion activities in the communities and follow-up
the Village Hygiene Promoters in their daily tasks;
• Carry out training for village water committees (VWC), support the community in setting up a VWC and carry out regular follow-up visits;
• Organize and support the construction of household latrines in the communities;
• Organize and carry out distributions of H&S items and inform and train people on proper use;
• Support the development of manuals and community handouts for village water committees, hygiene and sanitation promotion, latrine construction, maintenance of rock catchments and any other topic;
• Be the link between target community and Caritas Torit: Support the organization and logistics of the construction works;
• Any other related assignments given by CARITAS supervisors;
Requirements • Senior – four graduate
• Good knowledge of the English language – spoken and writen
• Fluency in Juba Arabic and any other local languages spoken in the assigend locations (such as Dongotono, Lotuko, ...)
• Previous knowledge of and training in hygiene and sanitation promotion methods (preferably PHAST)
• Ability to work with and mobilize communities
• Basic skills with computers (Microsoft Word and Excel) as well as reporting experience
• Previous work experience with an NGO
• Must be South Sudanese by Nationality. Valid identification documents will be required.
