The Director, Branding, Editorial, and Creative Services will head up a team responsible for expanding the brand of the Foundation, supporting development and marketing efforts and contributing to raising visibility of its goal of elimination of pediatric AIDS. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Communications and Brand Strategy, s/he will help formulate strategies and design outputs to achieve these goals. The Director will also oversee the Foundation Ambassadors program, to put a face on the issue of pediatric AIDS through those living with and affected by the virus.

The Director of Editorial, Branding, and Creative Services will:
Branding and Creative Services:
• Create strategy and execute activities involved in strengthening and heightening the brand position of the Foundation in the US, Europe, and Africa
• Work to create a comprehensive branding strategy for the Foundation to elevate the issue of preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV and the eventual elimination of the disease
• Develop creative programs and design concepts that advance our brand strategy
• Support strategic development and oversight of Foundation events in the US, Europe, and Africa, including fundraising initiatives
• Supervise work of outside consultants on development of marketing/communications strategies, events, corporate partnerships, and celebrity engagement
• Oversee celebrity engagement and relationships and manage Foundation Ambassadors program
• Launch and oversee advertising and PSA campaigns
• Support the Foundation’s development and fundraising efforts, and supervise execution of strategic digital and social media platforms for the Foundation
• Identify and oversee the creation of branded materials to enhance visibility of the Foundation
• Conduct regular strategic analysis on Foundation brand and messaging by audience and by region
• Communicate and maintain brand continuity across all Foundation segments
• Lead creative sessions for project kick-offs and oversee creative and design concepts
• Oversee efforts aimed at ensuring that the Foundation’s branding is current and consistent, including research aimed at ensuring that our brand identity appeals to current and potential donors and to other stakeholders. Manage consultants charged with assisting branding efforts.
Editorial Services:
• Maintain and update clear and compelling identity-building “core messages” that can be used by all Foundation employees and board members in all aspects of communication
• Ensure the availability of up-to-date, comprehensive information kits suitable for different audiences
• Oversee the writing and production of collateral materials, including the annual report, brochures, and fact sheets
• Ensure an orderly process for obtaining and archiving videos and photographs of Foundation beneficiaries, initiatives, and events for future use
• Oversee the production of videos and other multi-media products
• Coordinate closely with External Relations team to ensure that Foundation spokespeople and board members have all materials needed to prepare for interviews or for major speaking engagements
• Oversee Foundation website and social media efforts
• Oversee internal communications efforts, including management of intranet homepage
• Co-manage clearance processes in interdepartmental publications steering committee, vetting publications for accuracy and troubleshooting issues from a managerial perspective
• Assist other departments and country offices with special projects and editorial initiatives as funding and time permits.
Required Qualifications
• At least ten years experience, with particular preference toward experience in international NGO, or UN entity
• Global health experience preferred, particularly in the HIV/AIDS sector
• Understanding of the communications, marketing, and branding requirements for effective development/fundraising
• Creative/advertising agency experience strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of children’s health care issues, and domestic and international HIV/AIDS issues, highly preferred
• International communications experience preferred
• Ability to travel nationally and internationally required
• Experience working with diverse cultures and communities
• Experience working closely with senior leadership in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments
• Creative, with close attention to detail
• Self-starter with ability to see the big picture
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of French an asset
• Extensive knowledge of editorial services, including experience with collateral materials, and editorial decision-making.
• Demonstrated management responsibility and teamwork.
• Extensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, CSS, HTML, Flash, video and multimedia preferred
