SUMMARY: Counterpart is seeking a consultant with experience in South
Sudan, and knowledge / expertise in livelihoods, agriculture and
economic development. The ideal candidate will have experience in
working on USAID-funded project activities and have strong facilities
in new program development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Consultant will work in with Counterpart senior staff to position
Counterpart for new program development in South Sudan. Leveraging
local knowledge and contacts, the consultant will forge organizational
and institutional partnerships, including those with prominent
assistance agencies / NGOs, Government of South Sudan, and major
donors including USAID. Specific activities are anticipated to
include:
-Review of Counterpart’s experience in South Sudan;
-Mapping / identification of key stakeholders involved with
livelihoods, agriculture and economic development in South Sudan;
-Brainstorming with Counterpart headquarters and field staff on
project concepts and country entry strategy;
-Field mission to South Sudan to assess new program development
opportunities and overall development constraints;
-Conduct meetings with key stakeholders and forging of new
partnerships;
-Drafting of concepts / ideas; and
-Identify and spearhead other opportunities to best position
Counterpart for new work.
Qualifications:
-Experience working in South Sudan, ideally for USAID or other donor-
funded project;
-Masters’ degree in business, agriculture, economics, natural resource
management, or related field;
-Skills in new program development, strategy and representation;
-Strong written and verbal communication skills, writing sample
required.
-Ability to work in multi-cultural and lingual settings.
-Strong inter-personal skills.
-English fluency required.
