Process Plant Security Superintendent -Buzwagi Gold Mine

Buzwagi Mine in Tanzania is currently searching for an experienced Plant Security Superintendent. This position is responsible for Process Plant Security. The position must meet agreed corporate expectations in terms of Security, safety, cost, and environmental objectives. Provide technical, commercial and strategic leadership for the Buzwagi Mine Security Department Team. Ensure safe, professional and cost effective operation, Security efficiency, in alignment with corporate objectives and practices. FIFO, working a roster of 9 weeks on 4 weeks off.

KEY RESULT AREAS / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide leadership to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.
Collaborate with other Departments, to ensure sustained development of a Safe and Healthy Work Environment on the Site and within the Communities of contact.
Direct the activities of the Security Operations section, to assure cost effective and high quality initiatives are taken. Achievement of Zero Property Loss Incidents is considered as a Key Performance Indicator.
Implement a Security Management capability that will ensure prevention of material loss.
Ensure that any loss is investigated in a proactive manner, to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
Ensure that all security personnel are equipped, trained and qualified to respond to potential “breach of security” incidents in an appropriate manner.
Implement the necessary programs and reporting functions that will facilitate timely reporting of costs, training schedules and commitment forecasts.
Fully comply with Voluntary Principles (VPs) on Human Rights and the Use of Force.
Develop and promote a Succession Plan that will define appropriate localization initiatives and ensure these commitments are met.
Promote and implement the appropriate Policies and Procedures that are based on the submissions and commitments to the Tanzanian governing agencies and the best management practices that are part of our Barrick Operating System and corporate philosophy.
Facilitate creation of a workplace climate that ensures minimum disruption to work due to industrial relations issues.
Actively participate in appropriate industry committees, government working parties and community groups to ensure that Buzwagi interests are represented and protected.

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

Education Requirements:

Post secondary education diploma or degree.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum 10 – 15 years experience in the Military, Police, or as a Security Professional working in a mining and gold processing.
Experience with security operations and project development in developing countries.
Experience in systematic coaching and training of employees in developing country is essential.
Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills in the English language.
