Position Summary
We seek an exceptional candidate for a Deputy Team Leader - Operations on an upcoming potential DFID-funded programme on Maternal and Child Health in South Africa. The Deputy Team Leader – Operations will overlook and manage the administrative, financial and operations teams who will support the programme. This is a full time position for three years to be based in South Africa and will report to the Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage all the administrative, operations and financial teams that will support the project. • S/he will manage the project infrastructure, including all operations and administration such as specific units for office management, subcontracts and procurement, human resources, finances and accounting, and grants management. • Major responsibility will be to ensure adherence of the project to all applicable corporate and DFID rules and regulations regarding this contract while supporting rapid start up and implementation, and planned closeout. • Participate in quarterly, semi-annual and annual report writing process, and financial reports. • S/he will have delegation of authority for financial and operational responsibility.
Qualifications
• Advanced degree in business management, finance, accounting, human resources management, or other related discipline. • Successively responsible positions in project operations or business management and administration; • At least 10 to 12 years’ experience in different aspects of project management; • 5 years’ experience required in managing operations for programmes including DFID-funded project or program; • Demonstrated capacity to manage operational staff; • Understanding of DFID rules and regulations regarding contracts • Strong preference for local nationals
