PROCESS PLANT SECURITY COORDINATOR -Buzwagi Gold Mine

Our Buzwagi Mining Operations in Tanzania require a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Plant Security Specialist to provide leadership to the Security specialists within the Process Plant. Will be required to initiate and implement strategic methods to tighten security risks. This position reports to the Security Manager & Plant Security Superintendent.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide leadership to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.
Collaborate with the Mine and Process Departments, to ensure sustained development of a Safe and Healthy Work Environment on the Site and within the Communities of contact.
Direct the activities of the Security Department (Plant), to assure cost effective and high quality initiatives are taken.
Achievement of Zero Property Loss Incidents is considered as a Key Performance Indicator.
Implement a Security Management capability that will ensure prevention of material loss.
Ensure that any loss is investigated in a proactive manner, to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
Ensure that all security personnel are equipped, trained and qualified to respond to potential “breach of security” incidents in an appropriate manner.
Implement the necessary programs and reporting functions that will facilitate timely reporting of costs, training schedules and commitment forecasts.
Fully comply with Voluntary Principles (VPs) on Human Rights and the Use of Force.
Develop and promote a Succession Plan that will define appropriate localization initiatives and ensure these commitments are met.
Promote and implement the appropriate Policies and Procedures that are based on the submissions and commitments to the Tanzanian governing agencies and the best management practices that are part of our Barrick Operating System and corporate philosophy.
Facilitate creation of a workplace climate that ensures minimum disruption to work due to industrial relations issues.
Actively participate in appropriate industry committees, government working parties and community groups to ensure that Buzwagi interests are represented and protected.

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

Education Requirements:

Post secondary education diploma or degree.

Experience Requirements

Minimum 05 – 10 years experience in the Military, Police, or as a Security Professional.
Experience in Open Cut Mining would be a preference.
Experience with security operations and project development in developing countries.
Knowledge of Tanzanian customs and legal process.
Advanced skills in Security Operations, including:
Field surveillance, deployment & intervention, Communications, Canine force activities,
CID, Electronic control systems. Strong communication skills. Strong conceptual thinking ability.
