JOB PURPOSE
The Regional Manager Passive Infrastructure is responsible for the coordination and implementation of strategies related to the passive infrastructure of Millicom’s telecommunications and IT networks across our Africa operations. He/she is also responsible for vendors, business continuity, resilience, capacity, investments and their operations.
In addition, he/she will support the local infrastructure teams and coordinate strategic planning, defining guidelines and key performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and guide the local operations and service providers to mitigate issues related to power, air-conditioning and other passive infrastructure elements
• Ensure the infrastructure design and plans are aligned with the network availability targets
• Evaluate performance reports, initiate and coordinate improvement programs based on reported performance
• Lead service review meetings with suppliers, support the procurement team with the evaluation of service performance
• Outages and major failures – root cause analysis, key learnings and expert advice
• Energy management and maximized utilization aiming mainly for decreased load pressures
• Review space, power, HVAC design, installation and operations standards for Millicom operations infrastructure
• Play a critical role within the regional technology organization, and lend important guidance to local operations general reliability enhancement efforts.

Key deliverables: Network availability

• Produce, maintain and implement a 3 year plan (incl. design, budget forecast, timelines), supporting the network planning team
• Align plan with performance and redundancy requirements
• Perform all planning activities for passive infrastructure: power plant (solar, generators), batteries, rectifiers, power automation, air-conditioning, and their monitoring systems
• Advise on vendor and technology strategy  Support Capital Acquisition Request preparation for all infrastructure related matters
• Maintain a centralised database for passive infrastructure, equipment and configuration

Key deliverables: Passive infrastructure plan for core, transmission and radio access sites

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Extensive experience in similar position, planning and operating passive infrastructure
• Ideally international experience in the telecommunications sector
• Bachelor degree in Engineering and related courses
