EngenderHealth Tanzania Country Program is now seeking the expression of interests for the position of Business Development and Visibility Officer. This position will be based in Dar es Salaam and it is open for Tanzania national candidates only.
JOB SUMMARY
Business Development (50%)
Lead development of EngenderHealth Tanzania Country Office Business Development Strategy, in collaboration with the Country Management Team.
Responsible for planning, writing and editing local funding proposals in compliance with HQ fundraising guidelines and standards, in collaboration with other EngenderHealth Tanzania staff, including the Country Representative and BD Unit, and ensuring that applications and concept notes meet donor and EngenderHealth guidelines.
In collaboration with the Country Representative and BD Unit, develop and deepen existing donor and partner relationships, ensuring that EngenderHealth Tanzania maintains effective communications through ensuring donors and partners are updated on our work and achievements.
Advise the organization on changing donor priorities and ensure that new local funding opportunities are identified and shared with the country BD Unit and HQ BD unit in a timely manner, along with recommendations on whether and how to proceed.
Routinely conduct research to identify new business development opportunities, including potential private donors, public companies and within the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Serve as a member of the EngenderHealth Business Development Global Network (BDGN) and participate in periodic conference calls and preparation and submission of reports.
In close collaboration with the HQ BD team develop and improve the effectiveness of the organization-wide oversight, monitoring and coordination of fundraising and reporting.
In close collaboration with the HQ Contracts and Compliance Unit and country and HQ BD Units, take the lead in developing Memoranda of Understanding to enter into agreements with different kinds of organizations as they pertain to funding or partnership opportunities.
Liaise with the country BD Unit and help them to build their fundraising capacities and knowledge.
Manage BD related documents and files and keep the fundraising section of country program website up to date.
External Communications and Visibility (50%)
Lead the implementation of overall visibility activities based on the EngenderHealth Tanzania Strategic Plan in coordination with the Country Representative and other team members. The visibility activities may include print materials, electronic media, organizing small and large meetings, publishing articles in newspapers, publishing briefs and success stories, etc.
Identify visibility opportunities from the existing portfolio of country projects and ensure synergies in communication activities across projects.
Work closely with the Country Representative, Country Management Team and other team members increase the organization profile and enhance its reputation within the development partner community and Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, and increase overall visibility.
Represent the organization at meetings with donors and external visibility events/fora.
Provide support to Country Representative and other team members in fulfilling their representational roles and responsibilities.
Travel as required to fulfill responsibilities.
Education, Experience and Certifications:
Undergraduate or advanced degree in Communications, Public Health, Business or other relevant field.
Minimum of three years relevant experience.
Exceptional interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
Fluent in English and extensive verbal and written communications experience.
Highly proficient in the use of personal computers, specifically word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications, as well as use of e-mail and internet.
Strong report writing and presentation skills, including in use of graphics, diagrams and data.
Capacity to write and edit a wide range of materials including speeches, leaflets, briefing papers, web pages, press releases, newsletters and in-depth reports.
Good understanding of production, graphic design and photography standards.
Good knowledge and experience in handling of web-based management systems.
In-depth exposure to the use of various media platforms such as print, electronic/ online, and social media, for communication and brand building.
Understanding of Tanzania’s ministries, especially the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, development partners and NGOs working in Tanzania, and private companies involved in work in the health sector or otherwise supporting the sector.
Ability to understand complex issues (including those related to statistics, financial flows and IT) and the ability to articulate these in a simple, easy-to-read way.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, to follow-up, meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
Cooperative manner, flexibility and dependability.
Experience working on donor supported projects; experience working in maternal, reproductive and sexual health strongly preferred.
