Room to Read in Tanzania is looking for one Program Associate-School Construction Program based in Bagamoyo. The Program Associate will report to the Literacy Program Manager. These incumbents will provide logistical and organizational assistance in implementing the School Construction program.
Job Purpose:
The Program Associate have overall responsibility for all-daily sites supervisory activities including providing logistical and organizational assistance to the Literacy Program Manager – School instruction Program
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Visiting project sites to monitor daily and/or weekly project progress;
Provide technical assistance to school construction committees and contracted contractors or with regard to quality of works, use of materials and specifications.
Regular visits to project sites to provide guidance and support program implementation
Assist in gathering Information for reports on status and progress of the project sites.
Assist on site meetings management with Local government leaders, District officials and Room to Read visitors
To closely work with School Construction Committees to ensure and verity the Quantities and Quality of the Community Contribution Building Materials.
Assist in hosting Room to Read visitors including donor site visits as needed and document all anecdotes that emerge though field work;
Assist on surveying 2016 potential projects site
Guide school construction committees and school store keepers on how to stock register and record keep the materials;
Ensure proper use and recording of materials and tools on site
Perform any other activities as the need may arise.
Assist and approve community contribution ensuring that it is properly recorded in the stock register and collect all the invoices/receipts and delivery notes related to the materials contributed .
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction; One year of relevant experience in
project implementation and monitoring; Experience in community mobilization; Exposure to working with Non-governmental organization will be an added advantage; Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili, Willingness to live and work in rural areas; Results oriented work ethic; Ability to travel frequently .
