In 2007 Statoil signed a production sharing agreement (PSA) for Block 2 with Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC). Statoil Tanzania AS is the operator with 65% working interest with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Limited as a partner with 35% interest.
In 2012 and 2013 Statoil and its partner made the significant Zafarani, Lavani, Tangawizi and Mronge discoveries in Block 2, which covers an area of approximately 5,500 square kilometres and lies in water depths between 1,500 to 3,000 metres. The discoveries have proved 17-20 Tcf of in-place volumes and mark an important step towards a possible natural gas development in Tanzania
Statoil is now looking for a qualified Tanzanian National to work as a Social Performance leader in the Sustainability Departement. Working with a growing Sustainability Team in Tanzania, the Social Performance Leader will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic and on the ground activities necessary to support the commercial development of Statoil’s significant offshore gas discoveries, as well as providing support to ongoing exploration and new business development opportunities.

  • Social performance planning, resettlement planning and implementation

  • Social impact assessment and management, social investment, capacity building and local community content

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and Oral Kiswahili and English Language skills
  • Graduate/Post Graduate degree in social science or other related disciplines
  • 10 years of relevant work experience in social risk management and impact assessment processes adopted by other private sector developers
  • Line management experience with strong leadership skills, ability to work in cross functional teams
  • Relevant experience in working with communities (especially coastal/field work), local government and other institutions
  • Experience in regional planning, community development, and design and implementation of social investment programs
  • Knowledge and practical experience of application of international CSR standards and guidelines
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement with local government, NGOs and civil society organizations.

  • Organized, with ability to prioritise activities and make decisions in complex situations with many parties involved
