1.0 NATURE OF SCOPE
1.1 Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) was established under the Ports Act No. 17 0f 2004. The Authority is vested with the obligation and responsibility of developing, managing and promoting the maritime sector in Tanzania mainland.
The major role of TPA is to enhance the advantages of the geographical position of Tanzania’s maritime resources.
1.2 In light of the above, TPA invites applications from suitably qualified and competent applicants to fill the following vacant posts.

2.0 POST: MARINE ENGINEERS – 5 POSTS
2.1 Key Responsibilities
1. Co-ordinates all the activities of planning and controlling of marine engineering activities;
2. Plans and co-ordinates maintenance schedules of marine crafts including dry docking outside the country;
3. Performs overall administration of the Marine engineering section;
4. Liaises with supplies department on the availability of spares
5. Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

2.2 Qualifications and Experience
A. Professional Qualifications:
(i) Registered with ERB
(ii) Certificate of Competence class 1
B. Academic/Basic Qualifications:
(i) First degree in Chemical/Process/Marine Engineering
(ii) Computer Literate
C. Working Experience:
(i) At least three years

5.0 REMUNERATION
The successful candidate will be offered an attractive and competitive remuneration package commensurate with Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) Remuneration schemes at the salary scale of TPGS 6.

3.0 POST: MECHANICAL ENGINEER – 5 POSTS
3.1 Key Responsibilities
1. Participates in implementation of programs on equipment renewal, maintenance and disposal;
2. Participates in developments and implementation of equipment operation plans to minimize accidents and improve on reliability;
3. Evaluates performance of equipment in relation to cost, durability and other parameters and recommending on their suitability for company use;
4. Develops operations and maintenance manuals for vehicles, plants and equipment;
5. Reviews workshops’ operational process;
6. Develops, pre-qualifying and maintains schedules of parts and services supplies;
7. May be required to supervise maintenance activities for any of the following: Fork lifts, Cargo gear, Mobile Cranes, tractors, Trailers, plants, Heavy and Light duty vehicles and to manage the Machine Shop;
8. Supervises, appraises staff and identifies development and training needs;
9. Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
3.2 Qualifications and Experience

(ii) Computer Literate

4.0 POST: CIVIL ENGINEER – 5 POSTS
4.1 Key Responsibilities
1. Co-ordinates and supervises activities of the port civil engineering zones;
2. Maintains records of labour materials machinery usage;
3. Certifies quality of supplied materials intended for construction of TPA facilities;
4. Prepares materials specification and quantity estimations as per approved procedures;
5. Prepares drawings for repair and rehabilitation works;
6. Conducts maintenance programme for TPA building facilities;
7. Prepares maintenance materials budgets which will be suffice the requirements;
8. Supervisors, appraises staff and identifies development and training needs;
9. Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
