Our aim is to provide sustainable and people-centred development through professional advice, transfer of best practice and the enhancement of skills and knowledge. By joining our Gender Section, you will contribute to what the Secretariat considers to be at the highest level of political priority: supporting the integration of gender into Secretariat programmes, policies and systems in accordance with the Secretariat Strategic Plan 2013/14 – 2016/17, and supporting member states to advance international commitments and protocols on gender equality and place it centre-stage within the post-2015 development agenda. This includes ensuring women’s capacity is enhanced for political, economic and social development; the empowerment of women; and improvement of women’s access to justice.
Graduate calibre, and ideally with a degree in economics, political science, development studies, gender / women studies or similar, any additional training or certification in gender / women studies will be welcomed. You must have experience gained in a developing country and a sound knowledge of gender systems, tools, strategies, emerging international trends and multi-disciplinary team approaches.
To be considered you must also be a citizen of a Commonwealth country.
