The Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre (TFNC) is implementing a five year second phase of the project titled, "Cassava: Adding Value for Africa (CAVA II). CAVA II is being implemented in five African countries, namely Ghana, Malawi, Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania with the objective of supporting sustainable and equitable cassava value chains in these countries thus improving the livelihood and incomes of small farmers and stakeholders in macro, small and medium scale enterprises. Cassava: Adding Value for Africa, (CAVA II) is funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and coordinated by the University of Agricultural Abeokuta Nigeria.

In order to carry out its role, TFNC announces applications from suitably qualified Tanzanian citizens in the following position:
Business Development Officer (2 POSTS)
Based in Mwanza and Mtwara.
Reporting to the Zonal coordinator on a daily basis, the primary purpose of the Business Development Officer is to support coordination and building business relationships of actors in the Cassava Value Chains and assist (directly or indirectly) in providing them with support as needed.
Ensuring appropriate contractual relationships are made between farmers/farmer processors, community processors, intermediaries and end users to enhance the achievement of the objectives of the second phase of the Cassava: Adding Value for Africa (CAVA II).
Duties and responsibilities:
Provision of a range of business development services, including business mentorship, preparation of business plans.
Support for small and medium scale enterprises in the cassava value chains.
Provision of technical advice and inputs into programmes developed in line with the mandate of the project
Participate actively in the establishment of linkages between farmers and processors.
Promoting the establishment of community out-grower schemes and small holder farmer groups aimed at developing a supply system for large scale enterprises.
Supporting the establishment of linkages between root supply managers of companies and groups/association of smallholder farmers
Providing the Zonal Coordinator with such information as required for the effective coordination of the project
Undertake such duties as are required for the successful implementation of the Project
Qualifications and Experience:
A business, marketing, economics or Agriculture degree.
At least 3 years proven working experience in the agribusiness or food processing sector
Experience in offering mentorship to new small and medium scale enterprises
An entrepreneurial attitude and results oriented in all approaches
Ability to work in teams and motivate others
Excellent verbal and communication skills in English and Kiswahili
Must be computer proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office and internet use.
Business Development Expert (1 POST) BASED IN DAR ES SALAAM
Reporting to the Country Manager on a daily basis, the Business Development Expert is responsible to ensure a high quality interlace between actors in the cassava value chains. Working closely with the Business Development Officers to prepare and implement a marketing plan and ongoing marketing and business support. Facilitate communication and commercialization for investment based on detailed technical, market and client knowledge to enhance the achievement of the project objectives.
Duties and responsibilities:
Promote investment for cassava processing and assist in development of business plan for potential investors
Determine on the basis of available data, the communication channels and medium necessary to attract investments
Provide the needed specialist insights during the implementation of plans while ensuring consistent with the objectives and targets.
Device and monitor product flow by working closely with all value chain actors (farmers, processors, and-users, and consumers) of cassava based dried products, farmers and other market intermediaries to improve the efficiency and competitiveness within the value chain. Conduct research, develop market strategy and marketing campaigns Work with the Business development officer on the development of investment philosophy and processes and presentation to investors.
Experience and qualification.
• Masters degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Marketing, Agribusiness).
• Relevant experience in the field of Business development investment promotional Marketing.
• Experience in marketing planning and strategies. Knowledge and understanding of crop value chain.
Terms of engagement
These positions carry a five year contract. These posts will be based in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Mtwara as indicated with expected travel in the selected Regions in Tanzania where the project will be implemented.
Remuneration
An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate.

Monitoring, Learning & Evaluation Expert (1 POST) Based in Dar es Salaam,
Reporting to the country manager the ML&E is responsible, for guiding the overall M&E strategy and implementation of related activities within the project and via partners, plus providing timely and relevant information to project stakeholders,
Critical tasks for the ML&E expert are setting up the M&E system and ensuring it is implemented effectively by the key stakeholders, namely the primary stakeholders and implementing partners,
Duties and responsibilities
Device and establish monitoring mechanisms to help Coordinate activities along the value chain as well as improving communicatio understanding within the value chain.
Guide the process for identifying and designing the key indicate each objective, to record and report physical progress
Identify and document successes, risks, challenges, and opportunities the course of project implementation.
Communicate identified risks or threats to the CM, BDEs, CTE(P) so as to make and implement recommendations for guidance to the actualization of the overall project objectives.
Prepare reports on M&E findings, as required, working closely with ZOI coordinator, technical staff and implementing partners.
Facilitate regular meetings of project beneficiaries and groups for information dissemination, shared Learning experience and project monitoring & Evaluation purposes.
Undertake any of her activities relevant to the achievement of the project objectives as may be assigned
Experience and qualifications
An experienced development professional with strong understanding and passion for M&E. post holder should have the followings:
Technical skills:
At least 3 years Proven experience in Development Project monitoring and evaluation,
• Strong experience in the development and review of log frames,
• Understanding of quality and impact agenda;
• Participation in baseline and evaluation studies,
• Ability to translate theory of change into development projects.
• Experience of statistical analyses.
Core attributes
Strong conceptual and analytical skills with the ability identify key issues and identify cause and effect relationship in agricultural development projects;
• High level of verbal and written communication, negotiation, facilitation and training skills.
Job Title: Zonal Coordinator (1 POST) BASED IN MWANZA
Reporting to the Country Manager, the Zonal Coordinator will serve as the leader of the zonal team.
Responsible for coordination and managing the implementation projects process in the zone Ensuring the processes are in line with the overall country objectives of the second phase of the Cassava: Adding Value for Africa (C:AVA II).
Duties and responsibilities Planning:
• Working with the Country Manager to prepare the annual work plan and budget
• Agreeing on targets for achievement and performance with the Project Manager
• Liaising with other similar projects being implemented through the Foundation to ensure that inputs are coordinated as far as possible and desirable.
Management and Technical: I
Working with the Project Implementation partners, coordinate and manage all of !be implementation process in the zone.
Liaising and coordinating project activities at zonal level to meet the Project's objectives within the given timeframe.
Managing a local imprest account with a limit agreed with the Project manager to enable payment of small miscellaneous expenses to ensure the smooth operation of the zonal activities.
Ensure that farmers, processors and other value chain actors adhere to contract agreement or terms on the signed MoUs.
Promote the establishment of monitoring mechanisms to help coordinate project activities along the value chain as well as improving communications and understanding within the value chain.
Supervision of subcontracts at zonal level.
Supervision of the technical and other support staff.
Providing technical advice and inputs as required
Experience and Qualification '
• Experienced professional holder of Master's degree, preferably In agricultural sciences or development field,
• Able to build and promote constructive internal and external relation- ships, cooperates well with other team members,
• Experience in working with donor funded projects would be an, added advantage,
• Working experience of not less than 3 years is essential.
Reporting:
• Preparing concise Quarterly operational reports for the Project Manager
Providing the Country Manager with such information as required for the effective implementation of the project.
