To support the Mine Planning Manager in undertaking mining studies, develop mine plans, budgets, and mining fleet estimation as well as provide timely adhoc, progress and reconciliation reports.
General Accountabilities
- Contribution in LoM preparation by MPH
- Preparation of 3 years mining schedule with budget estimations as per AGA standards
- Rolling 24 month plan with physical reconciliation on quarterly basis
- Preparation of 3 month rolling plan and reconciliation on a monthly basis
- Provide the link between long term objectives set by MPH through LoM plan and the immediate to short term plan objectives through effective medium-term planning and reconciliation processes.
- Coordinate the work and resources of the medium and long term planning team in support of the role of the planning superintendent.
- Conducting, coordinating and/or contributing in mining project studies.
- Provide timely technical support to production manager and FLM’s through rolling eighteen month plans and schedules.
- Complete pit/pushback and waste dump design changes (as per geotechnical, operational and statutory requirements
- Coaching the graduate and junior mining engineers.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualification:
- An undergraduate degree in Mining or equivalent is essential
- Degree in mining engineering or alternatively a post graduate diploma in mining engineering
Experience:
- Five or more years of mine planning experience in the hard rock open pit environment
- Hands on experience in both long term and medium term planning with Talpac, Xpac, Datamine, Whittle and/ or ISTS software packages.
- Hands on experience in open pit gold mining production/ operations.
- Hands on experience in mine financial modelling and preperation of mine budget estimates.
- Able to show initiative and co-ordination skills and able to perform in collateral and cross functional environment
- Able to drive and hold an international driver’s licence
