The African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Tanzania Chapter is a national child focused organization working to protect and promote the rights of children in Tanzania, Its expecting to start the implementation of VAC project in Kisarawe district. Child Protection System Strengthening is a two years European Union funded project which aims at supporting national initiatives to build district-based comprehensive CPSs to prevent and respond to all forms of violence against children, particularly to girls. The project will be implemented in Kisarawe District and will focus on children and their families, promoting the protective community environment and safe schooling while building the capacity of frontline duty bearers.

POSITION: PROJECT OFFICER (Two posts)
Duty station : Both Based in Kisarawe district
Reports to :ANPPCAN -VAC Project Coordinator

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To support the Implementation of VAC project in Kisarawe district
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop a work-plan of project activities in Kisarawe district in consultation with the project coordinator and district officers
• Undertake the day to day activities in the Project target wards in Kisarawe district,
• Work in close co-operation with local government authorities particularly the District Social Welfare Officer, Police, Teachers, Parents, Children, community members and any other relevant authority structures
• Follow up cases; provide counseling and psychosocial support to victims,
Arrange referrals for cases of abuse, document all cases of abuse and lesson learned, successful stories and share them to the project coordinator and key stakeholders
• Prepare and submit monthly progress activity reports to VAC Project coordinator
• Maintain close collaboration and networking with DCPT, local government authorities, community leaders and other stakeholders
• Undertake any other assignments necessary for the effective management of the VAC project for ANPPCAN
• Help school management to establish child rights clubs in school and children /junior councils in village, ward and district level

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
o A Bachelors Degree in Social work, Gender and development, Low or Sociology
o Experience in Project Planning and Management desirable.
o Minimum of 2 years work experience in child-rights related project activities
o Strong understanding and experience with Counseling and provision of Psychosocial support to vulnerable children is a must
o Proficiency in the MS office, Analytical, communication and strategic planning skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities
Excellent communication and team-work skills along with very good public and inter-personal relations attributes
o Proficiency in English and Kiswahili, both written and spoken
o Self motivation with keen interest in detail
o Clear understanding of Children rights and child protection system in Tanzania
CHILD PROTECTION
Protecting the rights of the children is of paramount interest to us. Subsequently, all short listed candidates will undergo a police vetting check for criminal offences particularly relating to any type of child abuse. The successful candidate will be required to sign and adhere to the ANPPCAN Child protection policy.
