APPOINTMENT - DIRECTOR
Pursuant to Article 26 of the Pact on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes Region signed in Nairobi 2006 amended 2012 establishing the Executive Secretariat for the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), and following the Summit decision to establish the Regional Training Centre on SGBV. ICGLR intends to recruit for a position of a Director to manage the activities of Kampala Regional Training Facility Centre against Sex Gender Based Violence (SGBV).
1. DUTIES
As Executive Director, you shall be in charge of the overall management of the Centre and as such, you shall be entrusted with the following major duties:-
i. To mobilize the necessary resources for the Regional Centre and ensure its effective operationalisation ;
ii. To inform the ICGLR Management of the various initiatives undertaken in Institutional Capacity Development and consolidation of the Centre ;
iii. To ensure the vital role of intellectual Leadership in the preparation and implementation of the work plan of the Centre and coordination of related activities, in consultation with the Executive Secretary.
iv. Stakeholder Liaison-Liaises effectively with donors, co-operating partners and other stakeholders in order to enhance accountability, transparency and communication linkages.
2. FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Specifically, as Director of the Regional Training Centre, you shall be entrusted with the following Responsibilities:
I. Ensure the day-to-day functioning of the Regional Centre, including overall
Coordination of all activities and administration of human and material resources;
II. Establish synergies between the Regional Centre and other regional and sub - regional policy dialogue institutions through consultations with other regional international and inter-governmental organizations, relevant partners including the civil society, the academic world and the private sector;
III. Initiate, prepare and implement a resource mobilization strategy for the Regional Centre
IV. Plan and organize joint activities with other relevant partners, in order to
Strengthen policy dialogue and advocacy on SGBV in the Great Lakes Region
V. Ensure local staff recruitment in accordance with the laws of the host country.
3. Required Qualification and Experience
· A masters degree in Social Sciences or other relevant qualifications
· PhD will be an added advantage
· At least three years experience in SGBV, training research and development of training curriculum
· High levels of integrity and Honesty
· Decision maker, tactful and diplomatic
· Focus on achieving results
· Excellent oral and written skills
4. TENURE OF SERVICE
An initial period of three years renewable once.
5. IMMUNITIES AND PRIVILEGES
The Immunities and privileges are spelt out in the Headquarters Agreement signed with the Host Country.
