The Private Sector Federation is a professional organization, dedicated to promote and represent the interests of the Rwandan Business Community. It is the umbrella organization and voice of the private sector. The Chamber of Tourism is one of its founding members.
The Tourism chamber comprises of five key associations that represent a substantial portfolio of the economy in terms of real estate investments and export revenue earnings. They include:
- RHA - Rwanda Hospitality Association: Hotels, Restaurants/Bars/Clubs;
- RTTA - Rwanda Tours & Travel Association;
- RWASAGA- Rwanda Association of tour guides;
- RTEA - Rwanda Tourism Educators Association; proposed new name for the association of trainers and tourism collages;
- BARR - Board of Airlines operating in Rwanda;
The above associations operate under the Chamber of tourism umbrella and in the same premises. It is in this light that the Chamber is offering an excellent career growth opportunity in seeking to recruit a qualified individual/consultant to join an exciting team to work as a Coordinator for the Chamber of Tourism.
To be able to continue driving sustainable growth in the sector, the chamber needs a professional hand to coordinate its operations.
Job Title: Coordinator, Tourism Chamber
Reporting: Chairman of the Tourism Chamber
Duty Station: Kigali
Role Purpose:
Under the supervision of Chamber Chairman, the Coordinator will be responsible for proper functioning, designing and effectively implement strategies, policies and guidelines that enhance the Chamber. He/she will be charged with general coordination, supervision and support of chamber and association activities to strengthen their members and cross cutting programs.
Key areas of responsibility:
Among other duties, he/she shall perform the following:
- Coordinate chamber activities in order to achieve its objectives and targets;
- Formulate chamber action plans, monitor and evaluate their implementation;
- Advise the Chamber President on how to empower and enhance representation of the chamber in order to improve its efficiencies;
- Collect, analyze and share information with stakeholders on national, regional and international level, as well as challenges and business opportunities etc;
- Promote partnership with public and private institutions and agencies;
- Participate in meetings, workshops and other forums in relation to the promotion of the sector;
- Prepare project proposals for resource mobilization of sector/associations related projects;
- Update the database of the members of the chamber and mobilize them;
- Coordinate the implementation of revenue collection from members;
- Coordinate and supervise the dissemination of information to members;
- Follow-up on members inquires to be resolved;
- Participate in meetings, workshops and other forums in relation to the promotion of the
- Chamber;
- Liaise with critical Institutions which can help the chamber/Associations to deliver tangible services to members and maintain a positive and beneficial relationship with them;
- Ensure an effective Public relation of the Chamber/Associations in order to sustain with a positive image of the institution;
- Facilitate all activities related to the development of clusters identified in the chamber;
- Organize the expertise in the sectors of Industry to supervise the students in the industrial attachment;
- Perform other duties assigned by the President of the chamber, association and the management of PSF.
Interested candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in relevant Business studies, Management, Economics or related discipline from an accredited university. A Masters Degree program in the above studies would be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience with hands on proven experience in the Private Sector.
- Must possess strong people management, quality orientation, leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of best practices to collaborate with PSF partners, co-ordination and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build and manage strong working relationships among diverse stakeholders.
- Fluent in English, Kinyarwanda and French with excellent business writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills - able to deliver complex messages;
- Strong computer skills in MS Office applications, use of software programs for data management and qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy, high pressure team environment.
- Ability to prioritize workload and demonstrate outcomes on strict deadlines.
