Job Summary
Cardno Emerging Markets (UK) Ltd have been shortlisted for the upcoming DFID funded project "Water for Eastern Sudan - Urban Component". The project aims to provide a comprehensive programme design for the rehabilitation and expansion of water and sanitation systems in Port Sudan. The project is scheduled to commence in January 2014 for a duration of 12 months.
The project requires a senior level Water Resources Management Specialist (Hydro geologist). This position may also be considered in conjunction with or combined with the Climate Change/Hydrologist.
The key role is to assess the available water resources from existing sources including spring/shallow aquifers, identify possible alternative water sources e.g. new groundwater sources and possible transmission from the Nile and possible yields from surface water sources (dam catchments). The position could also review potential impact of climate change.
Key Responsibilities
The water resources/management specialist shall demonstrate the following skills:
- A professional civil engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the assessment of water resources and sources of supply for urban water supply preferably in developing regions of the world where there is limited sources of water.
