Job Summary
Cardno Emerging Markets (UK) Ltd have been shortlisted to tender for the upcoming DFID funded "Water for Eastern Sudan - Urban Component".
The project aims to provide a comprehensive programme design for the rehabilitation and expansion of water and sanitation systems in Port Sudan. The project is scheduled to commence in January 2014 for a duration of 12 months.
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to manage this project.
The team leader will be responsible for day-to-day management and coordination of project activities. The team leader will also be responsible for guiding, supervising and coordinating the work of other consultants, and taking overall responsibility for quality and timeliness of the outputs, and preparing reports including consolidating the inputs from other consultants. The team leader will also be responsible for ensuring adequate involvement and ownership of implementing agencies in the preparation of the master planning work.
The team leader’s technical role will be to evaluate existing water supply systems, assist in determining the scope of the system to be served by a piped network, potential means of access to a safe water supply for other communities within the Port Sudan area and the planning period and projected population to be served by the project.
Key Responsibilities
Successful applicants will also demonstrate the following criteria:
- At least 15 experience in the water sector with at least 5 years of team leadership experience
- A demonstrated ability to manage interdisciplinary teams, cultural empathy, and strong organizational, communication and reporting skills.
- Working knowledge of Arabic would be an asset.
The Team Leader position could be combined with one of the following positions: water resources management specialist, sanitation/ wastewater management specialist depending on experience of available candidates.
