Program Manager, Kenya
We are currently seeking a Program Manager for the ongoing, multiyear, USAID-funded CDP program, which assists select cooperatives in becoming effective member-owned and -operated entities in order to increase the incomes of their members. To achieve this goal, the project provides coaching to the cooperatives as well as trainings and technical assistance on a range of organizational development, management and value chain-specific topics so they are better equipped to operate their businesses profitably and successfully. For this position, extensive experience working in the cooperative sector is highly preferred. Kenyan nationals are strongly encouraged to apply; the position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with limited travel to neighboring regions.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day oversight and supervision of both programmatic and administrative activities for all CDP activities in Kenya.
Oversee monitoring and evaluation efforts for the project, including coordinating data collection and review of project impacts.
Coordinate and strengthen cooperative support networks, including cooperatives themselves, private sector actors, relevant ministries, universities and other implementing partners.
Provide advice and direction to cooperative organizations, to help define their short- and long-term technical assistance needs.
Coordinate the recruitment of volunteers and/or local consultants with the host organizations and ACDI/VOCA headquarters.
Evaluate volunteer/consultant work results and the suggestions or recommendations to ACDI/VOCA, through meetings with host organizations.
Monitor expenses and use of program funds; propose budget changes to HQ staff as needed.
Assist with the establishment and operation of Cooperative Learning Centers (CLICs).
Prepare semiannual and final reports and ensure frequent communication with ACDI/VOCA headquarters and other partners.
Participate in efforts to share CDP learning, including writing success stories, frequent monitoring and reporting, and sharing information with other CDP program managers.
Qualifications
Minimum bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in agricultural extension, business administration, economics or other social sciences; master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of five years’ experience in technical assistance to farmers’ groups, cooperatives or organizational development.
Fluency in English required.
Computer proficiency and analytical skills required.
