To both strengthen the newly accredited rural training site of Kafue District Hospital and support theoretical internal medicine teaching at Chainama College, SolidarMed offers an exciting opportunity for a medical practitioner with focus on general and internal medicine (as opposed to surgery and obstetrics) and an interest in capacity-building and teaching.
Key tasks and responsibilities will be:
• Practical training of students in the subject of General Internal Medicine (ca. 45 %); • Theoretical training of students at Chainama College in Lusaka in General Internal Medicine (ca. 45 %); • Clinical practitioner at Kafue Hospital (ca. 10 %) • Support Chainama College to strengthen the Medical Licentiates Program • Professional use of Project-Cycle-Management tools (planning, reporting etc.) • Contribution to the development of an operational research agenda
To best fit into our team with flat hierarchies, we are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
• Board certified, experienced physician in General or Internal Medicine • Diploma in Tropical Medicine, Public Health or HIV management would be an asset • Competence, experience and interest in teaching, supervision and interaction with students • Intercultural sensitivity, good communication skills and a high degree of social competence • Hands-on, pro-active personality, able to develop initiatives • Operational research interest and clinical experience in Africa would be assets • Fluency in English (good writing skills necessary)
Place of assignment: Kafue District Hospital, Zambia. The hospital is located 45 km outside of Lusaka, with 100 beds in a catchment area of 250'000.
