Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated five-year, USAID-funded Agricultural Knowledge, Learning, Documentation, and Policy project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The project will work across USAID's Feed the Future portfolio, using real-time impact assessments and rigorous analyses to measure projects and policies to help the government of Ethiopia achieve its agricultural development goals. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
• Manage the technical, administrative, operational, and logistical aspects of the project and provide leadership to ensure achievement of results
• Develop a clear vision and initiate innovative research and information dissemination strategies
• Identify issues and risks related to implementation and proactively adjust the project accordingly
• Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with USAID, government officials, and partner organizations
• Act as a key liaison between USAID/Ethiopia and government of Ethiopia counterparts, specifically within the Agricultural Growth Program and Agricultural Transformation Agency
• Coordinate research projects, lead high-level policy forums, and facilitate partner workshops and meetings with various actors
Qualifications:
• Ph.D. degree in international development, agriculture, environment, or related field of study required or equivalent work experience
• Significant long-term experience in agricultural development, nutrition, and pastoralist issues in East Africa
• Minimum 10 years of experience in managing and implementing innovative agriculture research programs in developing countries
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory work experience including direct supervision of research programs, and assembling international development program teams to work on multifaceted projects
• Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in project or organizational management, gender mainstreaming, and working in a multicultural work environment
• Ability to coordinate activities among a wide range of actors with similar goals and to advocate for broader agricultural development issues
• Success using monitoring and evaluation, knowledge sharing, and evidence-based learning to continually improve performance of activities
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
• Strong communication and diplomacy skills
• English fluency required
