Key Responsibilities
• Liaise with Operations and Technical to generate timely news
Articles and editorial pieces on Urneme and distribute them to the media on approval.
• Continuously Develop & Maintain a countrywide updated multimedia database for Umeme’s benefit

Trainee Technical Officer
Reports to: Training Manager

Job Purpose:
To learn ropes of engineering and implementing them in relation to Umeme’s electricity distribution business

Network Performance Technician ReF No UM/ENGI13/03/12
Reports to: Network Performance Engineer
Department: Engineering
5 Job purpose:
To acquire, monitor, control, operate, measure and report network performance
Key responsibilities:
• Implement strategies for optimizing the distribution network to minimize outages and technical losses.
• Carry out physical inspection of the network to identify fault drivers on rogue feeders and escalate for remedial action.
• Carry out network operating on instructions from control Centre in accordance to (SOR).
• Monitor network capacity trends and report to the Network
Performance Engineer to support future growth requirements and capacities.
• Capture data on the performance of the distribution network to enable calculation of reliability indices for weekly, monthly and annual reports generation.
• Maintain accurate and updated network performance records and reports.
• Share information regarding network performance with. Control centre, Operation and Maintenance engineers together with other stakeholders.
• Deliver safe and high quality electrical energy to its utilization points with both reliability and continuity.
Requirement:
• Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering (HDE
• 3 years in similar industry
Specifications Engineer REF No UM/ENG/11I/03/12
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Department: Engineering
Job Purpose:
To develop material standards and provide technical support during procurement and verification of network materials
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop a specifications bank for all network materials
• Coordinate the subscription to international standards bodies and maintain an updated bank of electricity distribution material standards
• Oversee the preparation of drawings for network materials
• Evaluate technical offers for compliance to Umeme Specifications
• Develop material testing and verification procedures
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests whenever required
• Inspect/supervise testing of delivered materials before acceptance
• Work with the various technical business units to compile quarterly material requirements
• Provide clarification to procurement for any technical queries from prospective bidders
• Prepare irregularity reports for materials that do not conform to Umeme Specifications
• Conduct research on developments in material standards and make recommendations on desired standards
• Provide technical support during review of Umeme’s supplier list
Requirement:
• BSC Electrical Engineering
• At least 3 years working experience in electricity network construction work
Project Managers (5) R£F No UM/ENG/08l03i12
Job purpose:
To plan, execute, and finalize projects for a particular projects portfolio according to strict deadlines and within budget in order to deliver projects according to plan
Key responsibilities:
• Provide direction and leadership to the project portfolio implementation team.
• Develop and execute an implementation plan for all projects in the portfolio
• Ensure the Capital Expenditure portfolio programme is completed

• A postgraduate qualification in Business or Management will be an advantage
• International qualification as a project Manager, Prince 2, PMI
• Proven experience as a project manager
• At least five (5) years post qualification in a leadership role
