Four temporary openings – Arabic, French, Italian and Spanish Media Desk Officers - required for 5 days in February 2012

IFAD’s Communications Division is seeking freelance journalists (not currently under contract with any media outlet) with at least 5 years experience - to serve as Media Desk Officers for an IFAD conference on 22 and 23 February 2012. We are looking for journalists fluent in Arabic, French, Italian and Spanish language who possess a working knowledge of English and who are based in Rome, Italy or in the surrounding area.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Media Relations & External Communications Unit and in close consultation with Regional Communications Specialists, the Media Desk Officers will carry out the following tasks:
- Liaise with media worldwide to encourage them to cover the IFAD issues around the conference, in particular the topics related to sustainable development
- Prepare media materials prior to and during the conference in language versions including: press releases/media alerts/media talking points
- Arrange media interviews for senior IFAD officials
- Other duties as required
