The Sunrise Dam and Tropicana operations are both situated in WA.
Tropicana Gold Mine represents the most significant Australian gold discovery of the last decade. The new, large scale open pit gold mining operation will produce 3.91 million ounces over a 10 year mine life. With construction having commenced in June, first gold is anticipated in the December quarter of 2013.
Senior Mine Planning Engineer

A unique opportunity now exists for a highly capable Senior Mine Planning Engineer to join our expanding team and make their mark on the future of this significant new development.
Accountable to the Manager - Mining this site-based role is offered on an 8:6 FIFO roster and is responsible for the delivery of scheduling and mine planning to maximise the value of Tropicana and to achieve the operating budgets in a sustainable manner.
Key accountabilities of this role include:
- Accountability for short to medium term mine planning including preparation of optimised mine schedules from 24 months to 12 weeks;
- Development of forecasts for planning and budgets;
- Development of Bench Operating Plans and preparation of detailed designs for pits, waste landforms, and mine infrastructure earthworks;
- Production performance monitoring and actively seeking opportunities for continuous improvement to maximise value in the mine-to-mill production cycle;
- Building effective and productive internal and cross-functional relationships and demonstrating tangible leadership within the mining engineering team;
- Providing well thought out, concise and timely communications and actively participating in meetings to advance the project objectives;
- Development and implementation of applicable elements of the ONE Management System and;
- Compliance with company, legislative and statutory regulations in regards to safety and environmental stewardship.
To be successful in this role you will require:
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork;
- Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering;
- Minimum of 6 years mining engineering experience with significant exposure to large scale open pit hard rock mining;
- Strong technical mine planning skills and proficiency in a range of mining software for scheduling, mine planning, forecasting, and mine design;
- A Quarry Manager's Certificate of Competency would be advantageous but not essential;
- A results oriented can-do approach to getting things done and a desire to learn and take on new responsibilities.
