The Embassy of the United States of America in Kigali is recruiting for the position of NEC Maintenance Supervisor
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Overall supervision of workers assigned to Facilities Maintenance and Repair (NEC) Section, providing preventive maintenance, routine and emergency maintenance and repair to buildings, grounds, and all designated equipment in the New Embassy Compound (NEC).

QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item
- Must have completed two years of vocational school after secondary school in at least one of the major maintenance trades, or in maintenance management.
- Minimum of three years progressively responsible experience in supervising, inspecting, planning, estimating maintenance work or projects is required.
- Level III written and spoken English, Level III written and spoken French, Level III Kinyarwanda.
- Good working knowledge of building and grounds maintenance operations and a good knowledge of maintenance trades operating practices, proper use of tools, and knowledge of safety procedures required.
- Must be able to supervise and provide technical guidance to a multi-trades workforce. Ability to
read, understand and explain blueprints, technical drawings and maintenance manuals. Must be able to plan and assign multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and solve problems quickly and with quality and timely results. Good computer skills and ability to use word processing and database programs that are currently being used at the Embassy. Must possess a valid and current Rwandan driver’s license.
SELECTION PROCESS
When equally qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (AEFMs) and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that in the application the candidate fully address the required qualifications above.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Currently employed US Citizens EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
