To provide technical skills in business and financial management to both target beneficiaries and to the Regional Team with the aim of creating viable agro-businesses within the community. This is expected to add value to the existing agricultural programmes and ensure motivation and programme sustainability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design appropriate training programmes to ensure that field staff working in agricultural and other income generating programmes fully understand the processes necessary for ensuring successful agribusiness.
- Design and evaluate the performance of appropriate training programmes for farmers and communities in practical business methods and enterprise.
- Provide training to communities in the development and evaluation of practical marketing strategies
- Work with local and state government to introduce and/or develop a functional export promotion council
- Evaluate the progress of each community group and provide diagnostic assistance through the application of sound business principles
- Liaise with partners and organizations outside World Vision in order to obtain and exchange ideas and therefore improve upon performance
- Maintain current knowledge in the field of business extension and experiment with nouvel techniques.
- Support the Integrated Programme Director and the various field teams in developing strategies which ensure that the implementation of projects and programmes are sustainable, community based and transform the lives of the target communities.
- Prepare quality and timely reports to the Integrated Programme Director
- Participate in developing project concepts and project proposals.
- Attend and participate in all devotions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Integrated Ministry Director
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- A University degree in business studies, marketing, accounting, economics or any related field with 2 years experience or a Baccalaureate with, at least, 3 years experience
- Must be willing to spend long hours in the field
- Must be willing to apply academic and technical knowledge to field conditions in a way that creates positive results.
- Must either possess a motorcycle or automobile driver’s license or be prepared to obtain one
- Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage
- Must be a mature Christian, with people skills management and a commitment to rural socio-economic and psycho-spiritual development
- Must be computer literate or be prepared to learn
- Must be a willing learner and a team player
- The position requires that, at least, 70% of total time is spent in the field
