We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional to help drive growth in UNICEF’s resource mobilisation in the Gulf Area (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait), engaging partners from both the public and private sectors in UNICEF’s global programs for children, as well as developing fundraising from individuals. This is a newly redefined role as part of a largely new (resource mobilisation and communication) team.
Major duties and responsibilities
- Through the provision of market knowledge, and with technical expertise, contributes to the development and updating of UNICEF’s Gulf resource mobilisation strategy and annual workplans.
- Collaborating with the Chief of Fundraising, helps coordinate high level engagement with key donors from the public and private sectors, to promote, advocate, mobilize and influence cooperation with UNICEF to ensure the attainment of UNICEF’s goals and objectives. Develops and maintains funding partnerships for the same purpose.
- Manages the contribution cycle to maximize effective use of donor funds and donor satisfaction, from proposal, fund implementation to reporting.
- Manages the development of a digital-focused monthly giving program, maximising the effectiveness of UNICEF’s investment funds.
- Collaborating with the Communication Specialist, ensures quality and timely content for fundraising purposes.
- Manages the fundraising areas of the public Gulf area web site(s) to drive partnerships and monthly giving.
- Oversees the necessary systems (including database) to assure strong donor loyalty.
Experience and skills required
The most compelling candidates will have the following qualifications, experience and skills:
- Advanced university degree in marketing, communication or a related field. A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- Minimum five years of relevant professional work experience in fundraising at national and international levels; experience of monthly giving programs is an asset, as is experience in the international development / humanitarian arena.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of Arabic is a significant asset.
- Knowledge of the Gulf region is a significant asset.
