Purpose of the position:
To coordinate, provide technical advice and monitor Gender & Advocacy programming in all WVT program and project, integrate Gender and Advocacy interventions from designing stage and ensuring citizen empowerment and policy influencing.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Conduct gender assessment / analysis and advocacy research on negative socio- cultural and traditional beliefs affecting women, girls, boys and men:
Conduct gender and advocacy analysis.
Support gender equity studies in the ADP’s
Facilitate training to TOTs in addressing gender based violence such as FGM eradication, prevention of early marriage and pregnancy
Conduct gender and advocacy monitoring and evaluation in programs.
Designing gender and advocacy projects through research findings/ results.
Build Capacity of staff and community in Gender and Advocacy especially on Citizen Voice of Action (CVA) on education, health and Nutrition, Agriculture policies:
Awareness raising on Government Policies.
Organize and facilitate trainings / workshops to WVT and Project staff on Gender and advocacy issues.
Provide technical support in all projects which are implementing CVA approach
Build capacity to WVT staff and Project staff on CVA approach.
Develop CVA guideline for program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Lobbing and dialogue with decision makers for policy influencing on issues rose through CVA team.
Monitoring the implementation of Government policies mentioned above and identify gaps for Policy influencing.
Compile Gender and advocacy messages, policy influencing, and document and disseminate promising practices:
Preparation of Policy briefs.
Preparations of position papers.
Document and disseminate Gender and advocacy promising practice.
Participate in Gender and advocacy networks, coalitions and policy influencing forums from District, Regional and National level:
Represent WVT on Gender and advocacy working groups, forums at all level and sharing the work of WVT and be part of collective voice on advocacy issues for Policy influencing.
Participate in implementing partnership advocacy campaigns at all levels.
Identification of policy gaps from micro level and address of law reforms at the macro level.
Facilitate integration (mainstreaming) of Gender and advocacy at all level of program cycle (Assessment, Design, Implementation, monitoring and evaluation) in WVT programs:
Inclusion of gender and advocacy issues in programming.
Update the gender and advocacy guidelines to suit the TEA (Tanzania empowerment approach and the new ADP model.
Develop Gender and advocacy tools for ADP and Projects assessment.
Follow up and ensure timely implementation of internal (operations), Regional and Global Centre (GC) guideline and or strategy on advocacy and gender and develop a plan for implementation of audit recommendations.
Conduct Periodic review and report on implementation of Gender and advocacy interventions and outcomes.
Developing Gender and advocacy strategy in alignment of WVT and Regional strategy:
Prepare Gender and Advocacy strategy, Annual Operations Plans, Budget and departmental dash board.
Participate in preparation of Gender and Advocacy annual report.
Prepare Gender and Advocacy proposal and provide technical support on other proposal on issues related to Gender and advocacy.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
Minimum Qualification required: Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences, Law.
Experience: More than 5 yrs in advocacy work.
Preferred: Masters in Social Sciences.
Technical Skills & Abilities:
Human Rights skills.
Advocacy lobbying, dialogue and networking skills.
Research skills.
Proposal writing skills.
Skills in report writing and Gender Analysis.
Ability to work in a team.
Facilitation skills.
Other Competencies/Attributes:
Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
Perform other duties as required.
Working Environment / Conditions:
Travel: 20 % Domestic/international travel is required.
On call: 5%
