The Bank of Tanzania (BOT) is offering Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Memorial Scholarships for Tanzanian Students. These scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate and master’s programme in accredited universities in the United Republic of Tanzania.
The primary objective of the Fund is to promote interest and excellence in Mathematics and Science courses among female students in the United Republic of Tanzania.
The Bank of Tanzania is the central bank of the United Republic of Tanzania. It is responsible for issuing the national currency, the Tanzanian shilling.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate and master’s programme in accredited universities in the United Republic of Tanzania.
Study Subject: For undergraduate programme (Category A) scholarship is awarded in the field of Science and Mathematics Studies, (Category B) Information Technology, Economics, Accounting and Finance Studies and for master’s programme in the field of Mathematics, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance.
Scholarship Award: The Scholarships are granted on academic merit and based on a rigorous selection process. Successful applicants are granted full scholarship which covers all university direct cost (tuition fees etc.) and student direct costs (meal, accommodation, book and stationery allowance, field practical training, special faculty requirement etc.) as specified in the respective institutions ‘costs structure including a laptop computer.

Eligibility: Bank of Tanzania Scholarships is granted under two major categories:
Undergraduate Scholarship (6 Scholarships): Category A is open for Female Students only and Category B is open for both female and male Students.
Requirements:
- Applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen
- Applicant must be among the top performers at ACSEE as per the National Examinations Council of Tanzania -With Division One in Science, Mathematics, Commercial or Arts subjects
- Applicant must have completed the Advanced Certificate of Secondary School Education Examinations (ACSEE) in the same year applying for.
- Applicant must be admitted or intend to be admitted into a full-time undergraduate degree programme in accredited universities in the United Republic of Tanzania. The course should commence in the respective academic year in any of the following fields: For Category A-Mathematics and Science and for Category B-Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance.
- Applicant must not be granted any other educational loan or bursary arrangement for the same course and academic year.
Masters Scholarship (2 Scholarships): The Scholarships are open to both female and male best students who are to enrol in Master’s degree programmes in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting and Finance.
Requirements:
- Applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen.
- Applicant must have obtained First Class or an Upper Second Class (honours) in the Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 4.0.
- Applicant must not be more than thirty-five years of age and should have completed Bachelor’s degree in studies related to Mathematics, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance.
- Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time Master’s degree programme in an accredited university of the United Republic of Tanzania. The programme should commence in 2016/2017 academic year in any of the following fields: Mathematics, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting or Finance.
Nationality: Tanzanian students can apply for these scholarships.

How to Apply: Applicants are required to complete Scholarship Application Form and submit it by post.
