Acacia Mining seeks to employ a Plant Metallurgist based at North Mara Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Metallurgy Section Leader and the role holder will be accountable to provide primary plant technical contact / support service. The incumbent will be responsible for direction and support of operational (and sometimes maintenance) functions in relation to all aspects of plant production and performance.
This is a permanent role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Technical and operational support / direction of mill operations in day to day functions.
• Planning, preparation and commissioning / optimisation of upgraded processing plant, including scoping of spares supply and maintenance requirements.
• Support of Mill department budgeting and tactical planning.
• Management of Metallurgical Accounting functions.
• Support the Maintenance department with technical input on project and maintenance tasks.
• Plant Scheduling, i.e. Mill Shutdowns, Ore supply and bullion production.
• Development and coordination of future ore test work projects
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy or Mineral Processing
Experience Requirements:
• Must have at least 4 years’ experience on a Process Plant.
• Must have sound knowledge and experience of technical issues associated with plant operations.
Skills / Knowledge Requirements:
• Sound knowledge of plant operations.
• Understanding of mechanics and electrics associated with the Process Plant.
• Strong computer skills.
• Mathematical/ Accounting abilities.
• Understanding of mill PLC and control philosophies.
