- Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) Project titled "Full-genome sequencing to identify determinants that impact upon foot- and-mouth disease virus strains with potential for enhanced transmission in endemic settings in Africa". Also The United States Defence Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) through the University of California, Davis has provided funds for the Projects titled "Viral Sharing of , Zoonotic agents between human and wildlife in Kilombero Valley" (VISHA). Also, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the University of California, Davis has provided funds for the Project titled "PREDICT 2".
Job position: One Health Research Assistant (One Post)-
Qualifications:
Holder of 'BSc 'in Wildlife Management or equivalent plus a Diploma in animal health recognized by Veterinary Council of Tanzania. Certificate in Human subject ethical training will be an added advantage
Experience: Experience in Livestock and Wildlife field research activities, and experience in working at the community/household level on human or animal health studies.
Duties:
• Collection of' biological samples from human and livestock during outbreak investigation and targeted epidemiological studies in selected research site.
• Collection of field epidemiological data during outbreak investigation and targeted epidemiological studies in selected research sites.
• Responsible for storing and transportation of biological samples while maintaining a liquid nitrogen base cold chain.
• Undertake other duties as may be required by the PI.
Remuneration: As per Treasury Registrars salaries Circular No.2 of '2015.
Terms of Service: Two years contract renewable upon impressive performance.
Duty Station: lringa Region.
